Our 10 fields of work
Empower
Through collaborative projects and workshops, we empower people and organizations to take action and put Cradle to Cradle into practice. We don’t just provide inspiration, we contribute to turning C2C-initiatives into reality.
Commitment
Around 1,000 active volunteers in German-speaking countries spread Cradle to Cradle into their regions. Our Academy and Activists’ Day facilitates exchange within the volunteer community. At the annual plenary conference, we equip the spokespeople of our volunteer initiatives with knowledge and tools for their local work. And with initiatives such as Cradle2Classroom, we build a bridge between full-time staff and volunteer workers in educational institutions.
Municipalities
Future-proof municipalities need local policies that aim to create positive added value: economically, ecologically and socially. We work hand in hand with local actors to drive this transformation within our C2C Regions Network.
Lab projects
With action-oriented projects such as Labor Plattenbau (C2C refurbishment of existing buildings) or Labor Tempelhof (C2C large-scale concerts), we demonstrate together with our partners how Cradle to Cradle can be implemented on a large scale today. We identify where scaling is still difficult and what needs to change in order to overcome these obstacles.
Networks
We bring together economic actors in our network of impact partners, accelerate local transformation through our C2C Regions network, and collaborate with actors of the formal and informal education sectors through our educational network. Our networks serve as platforms for exchange and best practices, enabling relevant actors to learn from each other and benefit.
Public Relations
Through guest articles in newspapers, online platforms, and books, media appearances, and interviews, as well as our websites, publications, videos, and social media channels, we achieve broad visibility for Cradle to Cradle and the work of the NGO.
Political work
We take a position on political decisions and processes and are involved in stakeholder dialogues, such as those related to the German Circular Economy Strategy. Through discussions with politicians and political briefings, we spark the transformation of our society, for example, with our paper on “10 Opportunities for a Fresh Start Towards a Thriving Future” or the statement to the EU Commission: “Shaping a new Ecodesign Regulation with C2C quality criteria.“
events
We organize the International Cradle to Cradle Congress, the world’s largest platform for
C2C innovations. We give the stage to C2C companies through industry-specific
summits and specialist forums and open up the topic of Cradle to Cradle to a wide audience with formats such as a series of events on the results of the Labor Tempelhof or the C2C exhibition.
Publications
We produce action-oriented guidelines, such as on C2C construction, C2C procurement and conducting major events (Labor Tempelhof) to accelerate the implementation of Cradle to Cradle in specific sectors. We also initiate and participate in studies that feed into the scientific and political discourse, including on digitalization and C2C textiles. We create target-oriented reports on our findings from kick-off and laboratory projects for decision-makers.
Knowledge transfer
We communicate Cradle to Cradle as a school of thought and design concept – through speaking slots at conferences, workshops and guided tours through our C2C LAB. We create content and formats for various professional groups and educational institutions, such as educational materials for classroom use and the the digital learning tool LOOP.
